Fishing pier update
Project Completion March 2026
Big progress is happening on our beloved Redondo Fishing Pier in Des Moines!
Construction officially kicked off in early November, marking the long-awaited start of the pier replacement. The design was refined earlier this year to improve constructability and control costs, with the City Council approving a total project investment of about $5.8 million.
The pier has been closed since 2019 due to safety concerns, and rebuilding it has been a top community priority. Construction is now underway and expected to continue through next year, with underwater work wrapping up by mid-February 2026.
This is a major step toward reopening one of Redondo’s most cherished waterfront spaces — and restoring the heart of our shoreline. Stay tuned for updates as progress continues!
